UN MATCH TOTAL

Après un avant-match mouvementé, on ne savait pas sur quel terrain jouer, et Figuig avait aligné 6 joueurs de leur équipe 1. Nous restions bien concentrés et l’équipe était surmotivée grâce à la présence des GAELETTES venues en nombre pour nous supporter !

L’entame de match fut compliquée, malgré un bon pressing des attaquants Gaeliques. Clive soulageait la défense grâce à ses bonnes remontées de balle. Sur une de nos premières contre-attaques, le triangle fatal se mit en marche sur une bonne récupération de Clément, qui donna à Alex, Rémi envoya un long ballon sur Raf qui dribbla et centra, Alain finisseur providentiel ouvra le score. Ensuite sur un débordement incroyable sur le côté gauche de Clive , son centre parfait échappa à tout le monde sauf à Nico qui enfonça le 2eme but pour les Gaels. La chance appartient seulement au très grand gardien, et Julien en est l’exemple parfait, 2 fois la barra vient sauver les gaels dont un détourné par notre portier dans une forme olympique !

Pendant la mi-temps nous remettons les pendules à l’heure car le match risque d’être piège

Après quelques beaux mouvements, et un beau coup franc botté par Alex , Clive au 2eme poteau anticipe la maldresse du gardien et plante le 3eme but des Gaels. Ce 3eme buts fut très importants car dans la foulée , Figuig marqua un but sur une belle tête décroisée. Mais malheureusement pour eux, aujourd’hui personne ne pouvait les Gaels ! En effet Clément sur une frappe exceptionnelle à l’entrée de la surface enfonça le 4eme but !!! (Le cauchemar de Figuig a encore frappé, si on se souvient bien, Clément avait déjà, à l’allé, mis une lucarne contre cette équipe).

Les joueurs étaient nerveux, et nous en pleine euphorie, car il ne fallut pas longtemps pour voir encore un coup de géni de Raf , qui loba le gardien marquant ainsi le 6eme but.

Je retiens beaucoup de bonnes choses, surtout la qualité de passes, la patience et la réussite. Si on continue comme ça on peut espérer grapiller notre maintien.

Encore 4 matchs, 4 finales il faut se battre et rester motiver car l’équipe est belle quand elle joue dans les pieds , que les joueurs jouent pour les autres.

FORZA GAELS

Les vingt premières minutes de ce match ont montré ce que les Gaels savent mieux faire, un jeu collectif, des passes précises et du mouvement. Fares ouvrait le score d’un tir en plein lucarne, Abou marquait peu après, Al rapinait un ballon dans la surface pour mettre le troisième et Steve centrait pour Abou qui devançait la gardien et marquait de la tête. 4-0 à la mi-temps, tout allait bien et on pensait pouvoir faire tourner l’équipe et changer de système de jeu. Le résultat est qu’en 10 minutes de jeu pas réaliste et de passes molles, on a pris trois buts sur contre et pas réussi à être aussi dangereux qu’au début. Pourtant les occasions et les tirs n’ont pas manqué mais n’ont souvent pas été cadrées. Sur un bon mouvement, Alex lançait Fares qui scellait le score à 10 minutes de la fin et nous mettait à l’abri.

Un efféctif reduit à 8 cause blessures et vacances, pourtant 8 Gaels riche en expérience et volonté. Il a suffit de 2 minutes pour comprendre que cette équipe adverse n’était pas la même qu’on a failli battre il y quelques semaines. Un attaquant super incontrollable, quelques petits oublis en défense, et 2-0 à la mi-temps. On a payé plus chèrs nos erreurs defensives, plus fréquent, en 2ème mi-temps lorsque on cherchait à revenir au score à 1-2 (but de Nico) 1-2...Abou rate une occase en or...1-3.....Charles frappe le poteau, 1-4....malentendus en défense...1-5 Du bon vieux Gaels.

Gaels begin challenge with convincing victory, although we know it should have been more like 8-1. The game started with Pisco keeper making a blunder and offering Abou a goal. But then Pisco struck back twice and it took another Abou cross to find Raf at the second post who equalized. Another typical Gaels defensive error made it 3-2 to Pisco at half time. The fact was that Raf and Romain/Nico playing as right and left defense were often very high, leaving Ed on his own. A reshuffle at half time allowed us to play in 3-1-2 strategy with Fares, then Raf in midfield to combine with Abou, Nico/Charles. Al went to play left back and things seemed to settle as we unleashed a series of attacks. Abou scored three times again, and Nico (high on something or other) struck twice, proving that you can play well when stoned... Charles came on to make a good debut. Al put away a penalty and the deed was done. It’s looking good in attack, we still have to tighten up in defense.

Strange season this has been for the Gaels 7 in which the best and the worst games were played. Starting well in 1st position, we dropped to a dramatic 7th position and were in danger of being relegated to the second division. Character and spirit brought us back to finish 3rd. It was a difficult season as the level is stronger (no weak teams) and there were many things to deal with. We lost key players (Pippo retired),(Ed, Clive) who were busy making baby boys for the future Gaels team. Freddie made a brief appearance, then Abou came back late into the squad and helped out. James joined also halfway in goal and freed Ed, Clive and Ayham from being in goal. But in the end we had an uneven and inconstant run. Strange also because though it was tougher, we finish virtually the same as last year : 6 victories, 4 draws, 6 defeats

For the last game of the championship, Gaels put out a solid performance to ensure 3rd place in the championship. Raf opened the score with a long shot that lobbed the keeper. Then Polat slipped the second one and Al put in the third goal at the end of the game. Gaels were solid all round and rarely let the opposition get near the goal. THe only chance they had was a header cleared out by James.

Gaels were up for carrying on with their unbeaten run and looked strong after Fares’ opening goal. But Dynamo managed to score twice against the strangely static Gaels defense. Changing the system at half time from 3-2-& to 3-1-2, meant that we were all over the opposition. But as Dynamo stayed in defense, Gales lived dangerously and almost conceded a couple of goals. Abou managed to turn on a pass from Clive and equalize. The Gaels looked as if they could still take the game, Al’s shot being cleared off the line by a defender. But then Al’s penalty kick was stopped by the keeper and the score remained the same.
